Derelict or Vacant Homes
Derelict or Vacant Homes grant aided financial support is funded by the Croí Cónaithe (Towns) fund.
This grant is administered and serviced directly by each local authority and so is independent of the SEAI grants which means you can also avail of the SEAI Grants combining the benefits of both. The grant application process is entirely separate and will need to be completed by the homeowner however all renovation work will need to be considered as a whole and Home Comfort Retrofits have the specialist skills and expertise to work on these more in-depth renovations.
SEAI GrantsHow to Qualify?
- Provide proof of ownership or negotiation details of your intention to purchase such property
- Property must be vacant for 2 years
- Property is built before 2008
- Live in the property afterwards or make available to rent. A landlord can only make one application for a rental property, however is entitled to also apply for one for their personal residence, therefore a maximum of 2 grant applications per person. This grant can also be combined with additional SEAI Home Upgrade grants
Other evidence and documentation you may need to provide
- Quotation of proposed work
- Report confirming property is structurally unsound and dangerous / confirmation it is on the Derelict Site Register
- Any other supporting documentation that your local authority may request to support your application. The grant is available for eligible vacant properties in rural, suburban, and urban areas of the nation.
